Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Finance Intern for our operations in our Addis Ababa Country Office.

Overall purpose of the role

Finance Intern role is to support the Finance department in ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations, including cash handling, payments, filing, and banking—while gaining practical experience in accounting and finance within the Country Office.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Collect checks and/or cash from staff and customers against official cash receipts and ensure timely bank deposits.
  • Maintain cash collections and other confidential documents securely in the safe box.
  • Distribute and pay checks against approved receipts, invoices, and recipient signatures.
  • Contact suppliers to notify them when checks are ready for collection.
  • Participate in entering data into the cash register and maintain an updated cash balance.
  • Maintain proper filing of vouchers, ledgers, reports, and other financial records.
  • Label financial document folders systematically.
  • Scan financial documents and upload them to SharePoint.
  • Collect bank advice, bank statements, and other bank correspondence promptly.
  • Ensure proper filing of bank advice with their respective payment and receipt vouchers.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Fresh graduate with zero years of work experience

    EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • BA Degree / Diploma in Accounting and Finance

LANGUAGE: (indicate Fluency level)

  • Amharic
  • English

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National employees
