Job Overview:

The purpose of Finance Coordinator is to implement delegated area of responsibility. The position holder will be responsible to develop budgets, prepare financial reports to internal NRC stake holders, Donors, and relevant government entities, monitor project spending, provide budget codes to requested expenditures and support finance team in day-to-day financial activities.

Generic responsibilities

  • Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at area level
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
  • Prepare and submit reports and analysis
  • Ensure proper filing of all support documents
  • Support programme staff in budget monitoring and financial matters.
  • Ensure that the budget monitoring procedures are according to NRC procedure.

Specific responsibilities

  • Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the areas/activities according to NRC procedures.
  • Ensure that the monitoring and reporting are according to procedures
  • Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the master budget and project budgets.
  • Provide up-to-date analysis and required reports of the financial situation in the projects and the programme to the Finance Manager, Head of support unit, Head of Programme, Area Managers, Programme Managers, Project Coordinators.
  • Responsible for supporting the budget holder in proper use of the tools, monitoring, and analyzing the projects financial situation.
  • Keep an updated and accurate Budget Program Overview (BPO) which is a primary tool for overview over projects, total forecast, and project spending.
  • Keep an updated and accurate Master budget of all costs with the inclusion of shared and programme salary costs, to have a full picture of a country’s coverage of shared costs over any period, and do the continues necessary monitoring for master budget, which includes provide regular reports to the management.
  • Budget Monitoring responsibility to generate Budget versus Actual (BvA) reports at different levels for any given project and loads transactions lists for the selected projects including checking the forecast and spending plan for the project.
  • Provide overview of financial situation of the portfolio and full budget review and analysis to be conducted every quarter.
  • Ensure that budgeting, financial reporting and other financial processes take place in adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor, auditor and the authority’s requirements.

  • At least five years of Experience from working as a Finance Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • University degree in finance field
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
