Role

The Finance Coordinator (Governance and Finance Section in NORCAP) is responsible for providing support to the Finance Unit and Operational Teams, in areas such as budgeting, monitoring, reporting, cash flow, and ensuring compliance with NRC policies and external regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance to NRC Financial Handbook, accounting standards, donor and auditor’s requirements and other NRC policies.
  • Contribute to overall financial control in NORCAP.
  • Share best practises with controllers in NORCAP, in NRC and with Global Finance.
  • Report on a regular basis to Head of Unit and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Contribute to effective and well-functioning team(s) that delivers collectively and according to plans.
  • Ensure financial management and anti-corruption work within the area of responsibility to ensure compliance and that NRC’s manuals and regulations are followed to secure financial control and overview.
  • Contribute to other tasks in the department when required.

Specific responsibilities

  • Responsible for some grants and agreements such as Reimbursable Loan Agreements (RLAs), etc.
  • Review of travel claims, invoice payments, procurement documentation.
  • Support in cash requests and invoicing.
  • Support in creating project codes and re-bookings in the accounting system.
  • Support in the budgeting process and monitoring.
  • Support in the audit process.
  • Support in the archiving of documents in NORCAP archiving system.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks in the NORCAP Finance Unit.

We are looking for

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as finance coordinator, technical accountant, or similar positions.
  • Relevant academic background (e.g. bachelor in accounting).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting systems and procedures and related legal and regulatory contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Professional knowledge of Windows-based applications, especially Excel, Word, and business management systems (ERP), Unit4 is preferred.
