Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Under the overall supervision of UNESP Project Operations Manager and the direct supervision of the UNESP Finance & Administration Specialist the National UNV (NUNV) – Finance Associate will be compiling and verifying the autheciticity of the information in the lists of the names and support documentation provided by IEC and ECC for the payment purposes of Electoral support activities and to undertake the following tasks:
- Populating the excel soft copies and setting them into a payment schedules lay out as guided by the supervisor.
- Receiving and taking full responsibility of the safe custody of the working documents for UNESP pending disbursement of payments by UNDP Country Finance Office;
- Carrying out the verification by comparing the information on the hard copies with the information in the excel sheet;
- Preparing summaries indicating the complete and incomplete information verified;
- Liaising with IEC and ECC and rectifying any incomplete information;
- Printing the final copies of verified payment packages for signing and subsequently submitting for payment process;
- Orderly repackaging the hard copy documents for filing;
- Working closely with UNDP Country Fianance Office and GSSU on disbursement of the approved payments
- Updating the supervisor of the progress of payments packages submitted to UNDP Country Finance Office
- Any other role assigned in line with UNESP work
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD);
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
- Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
- Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
- Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
- University Degree in Business Administration or Public Administration or a related filed will be desirable, or secondary education with specialized certification in Accounting and Finance.
Required experience:
12 Months
Experience remark:
- At least one year of progressively responsible finance hands on experience is required at the national or international level.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel etc.) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.
