You have:

  • At least 3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in Accountancy, Bookkeeping, Finance, Audits, or other relevant financial management areas.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, report preparation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including internal staff and external vendors and UN agencies.
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.), SAP based applications and user interfaces, and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.

The Finance Associate will be placed in Administrative and Finance Unit of India at New Delhi with reporting line to Finance Specialist.

The Finance Associate will be responsible for providing a variety of specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely completion, in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations, whilst demonstrating the capacity to analyze and present information.

In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. It does not apply to UN Volunteers who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their contracts.

Under the direct supervision of Finance Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Invoice Processing – As Local Focal Point for invoice processing, support the team in presenting invoices to GSSC for payment; Initiate correspondence to verify data, answers queries and obtains additional information on accounts and financial transactions, as required. Collaborate with Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) team in addressing queries and issues.

• Master Data Management (MDM) – As Focal Point for registering the vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc. in Vision Database, review the information shared by Field offices and Section for adequacy and accuracy; upload the request in Service Gateway tool for GSSC to process the registration; Coordinate with Field offices, Program sections and GSSC team in this matter.

• Advise and assist in all aspects related to preparation of analytical reports, compilation of data and analysis, drafting power-point presentations using the advanced tool. Selects and enters data from a wide variety of documents, verifying and ensuring accuracy by checking sources, making necessary calculations and assuring inclusion of all relevant data

• Maintains financial records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data for day-to-day transactions and reports.

• Support Finance team in reviewing monthly and year-end reports related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepayment, deposits, etc.

• Support Senior Finance Associate (Banking) on all aspects of payroll, allowances, salary advances, travel claims and other financial matters, and supports in calculation of payments due for claims and services.

• Support Finance specialist on HACT Financial Assurance analysis and coordination.

• Performs other duties, as required.

New Delhi, Capital of India, is a safe and family duty station. There are no security threats, however, the air pollution is a matter of concern. Government introduces various mitigation measures to tackle air pollution, which might disrupt commute occasionally. Living conditions are on par with other capital cities of middle-income countries. The city has electricity, water, healthcare, education, communication network, banking services and shopping malls/areas. Delhi is well connected by air, rail and road, including well designed local travel options such as metro trains, buses, taxis, etc. The capital city has rich heritage and glorious past.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in UNICEF Office, 73, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.

The contract extensions are subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.

The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable). • Monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA): INR 70,158.41 • Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 350 (equivalent in INR) • Relocation costs: $175 at beginning and end of assignment if duty station is outside of commuting distance (as determined by UNV) • Exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment): $120 for each month served, paid on completion of contract • Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for health, life and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer and health insurance coverage for up to 3 eligible dependents • Learning: Access to UNV's learning and career development resources • Annual leave: 2.5 days per month
