You have:

Role Summary

  • Support Finance functions specified in the following, for countries in Asia that TBI has presence specifically while contributing to the wider Finance Team.
  • Process and timely entry of supplier invoices in the accounting systems accurately and efficiently including account coding, cost centre allocation, checking authorisations and preparing payments in accordance with relevant TBI policies & KYC process.
  • Reconcile all supplier accounts regularly and resolve any discrepancies. .
  • Handle the complete payment process, ensuring authorizations, and any necessary tax deductions are applied at the appropriate rates.
  • Proactively liaise with external parties on Withholding Tax/ Tax Deducted at Source and GST / VAT submissions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure timely reconciliations of all relevant TBI bank accounts including petty cash/foreign currencies/ in country trackers/credit cards/prepaid card.
  • Proactively address and resolve payment queries and other banking issues with our bankers, ensuring smooth financial operations.
  • Ensure accuracy of journal entries, including posting of prepayments, accruals, and ensure payments and receipts are posted with the correct WHT, VAT & GST coding.
  • Manage and reconcile certain balance sheet accounts such as accruals, prepayments and tax payments.
  • Mange your own workload to meet team deadlines for month end and offer support to other team members
  • Verify receipts and and ensure accurate recording of staff expenses reimbursement in accordance with TBI expenses policy
  • Other duties including filing of financial records/data accurately
  • Assist in audit preparation and contribute to the tax filing process in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in bank account opening processes, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
  • Any reasonable duties required by the Regional Finance Manager or wider Finance team

Know-How:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of finance processes, policies and procedures
  • Ensuring clear and proactive communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring up to date with the Institute’s structure, especially in relations to the allocation of costs and a clear understanding of the importance of donor funded projects
  • Demonstrate a strong grasp of accounting principles, with an emphasis on accuracy in journal entries, including prepayments, accruals, and correct tax coding.
  • Possess a strong understanding of finance systems and tools, ensuring proficiency and that all relevant training is current.

Person Specification

This is a role in a fast-paced team, working within complex divisions that are highly scrutinised. Therefore, the successful candidate for the role should be able to display the majority of the following:

  • A qualification in a finance background or equivalent demonstratable experience of not less than four years, and fundamental accounting knowledge.
  • Experience of general accounting – e.g., Debit vs Credit entries, Purchase Ledger, Reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • A collaborative and supportive team-player, with demonstrable experience in working as part of a team
  • Great interpersonal skills - able to establish good cross departmental working relationships
  • Great time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Good English proficiency and ability to articulate verbally and by written presentation, and to express complex ideas in a clear and straightforward way
  • Customer-focused approach, with flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on new tasks and learn new skills.
  • Enthusiastic, self-driven, ambitious and committed to continuous improvement, with discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Experience of the demands of working within a growing business advantageous, along with a keen interest in the Insititute’s work and personal development.
