1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Finance Assistant position is to provide administrative and technical support in the payment process in Moldova Office. This includes the initiation of payment for transactions received by Finance to filing the supporting documentation in accordance with NRC procedures and policies.

Generic responsibilities

1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines 2. Assist a range of support with the implementation of the CC portfolio according to plan of action 3. Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated 4. Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards 5. Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team 6. Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work 7. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management 8. Ensure proper filing of documents 9. Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise

Specific responsibilities

 Prepare finance payment vouchers for country and area offices payments.  Initiate the approval process for payments from the payment requester, Finance verification and budget holders.  Close and book the payments on accounting system by closing the pending invoices  Prepare booking post-backs for the payments and cashbox using NRC tools.  Maintain the payments tracking sheet  Scan and file all the Finance payment supporting documents (hard and soft copies), ensuring they are complete, signed and filed in the proper location, in both half and soft form according to NRC SSD policy  Prepare and maintained bank confirmation tracking sheet to make sure that the proof of payment is linked to the right transaction.  Assist with financial audits and compliance reviews

2. Competencies

1. Professional competencies These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.

Generic professional competencies:  Basic knowledge in Finance department in a humanitarian/recovery context  Knowledge and experience within Finance and ideally a relevant Bachelors Degree  Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities  Fluency in Romanian language  Intermediate in English language.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. • Knowledge in excel and other Microsoft office software. • knowledge in supporting documents needed for different kind of payments. • Intermediate proficiency in English • Fluency in Romanian and preferable in Russian.
