Organizational Setting

The Division of Budget and Finance manages the financial resources essential for full implementation of the IAEA's scientific and technical programmes. The Division provides financial services and solutions for programme budgeting, treasury, payments, payroll, financial accounting and reporting to support the IAEA's mandate.

Main Purpose

The main purpose of the post is to ensure the effective and timely functioning of the accounts payable function relating mainly to the IAEA's procurement of goods and services from regular budget and extra-budgetary funds.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Review and examine incoming invoices relating to the procurement of goods and services and match invoices against purchase orders, contracts or agreements. • Process standard invoices in an efficient and timely manner to ensure prompt payment in accordance with contract terms. • Perform daily monitoring of accounts payable transactions, bringing exceptions to the attention of supervisor. • Respond promptly to enquiries from suppliers and staff on pending transactions. • Assist with the periodic and year-end accounts payable closure process by gathering and verifying financial data.

  • High School Diploma - Completed secondary education. Further education in finance and/or accounting is an advantage.
  • Formal training in accounting is an asset.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, some of which in an international organization.
  • Hands on experience with the use of the financial module of an Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP). Knowledge of Oracle is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, rules, procedures and accounting policies and practices in an international organization.
  • Sound mathematical and numerical skills, and the ability to pay attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and posting financial transactions in financial systems.
  • Interpersonal skills: Ability to work in a multicultural team with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Ability to act with tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with internal and external counterparts.
  • Organizing skills: Ability to set priorities, plan and organise own work taking into account changing demands and to handle a large volume of work in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.
  • Communication skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office 2010, which is the IAEA standard (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to use databases.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Administrative skills test to IAEA standard might be part of the selection process.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 45695 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
