DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 650 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for an experienced Finance Assistant (Accountant) in Kyiv.
Overall purpose of the role:
The Finance Assistant (Accountant) will support the Accounting unit with ensuring compliance with Ukrainian legislation and reporting requirements. The role involves supporting accounting operations such as processing payments for business trips and maintaining employee advances, ensuring compliance with Ukrainian legislation in program documents, verifying payment document authenticity, assisting in act of work acceptance preparation, calculating taxes and fees, updating software, registering transactions and archiving documents.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Support in checking, calculating and processing the payments of business trips for DRC staff, maintenance of advances to employees.
- Checking DRC Program activities related documents for compliance with Ukrainian legislation.
- Control the authenticity of the necessary documents for processing the payments
- Receiving inbound documentation for accounting processing (applications for payment, contracts)
- Control over the availability of DRC’s Supplier related documentation in accordance with payments, keeping the registrar updated
- Support the preparation of acts of performed work acceptance in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Produces calculation and transfer of taxes and fees, ensuring contributions to state extra-budgetary social funds, payments to banking institutions, wages of employees and other payments
- Accounting of property, liabilities (accounting for fixed assets, inventory, etc.)
- Support in maintaining, and updating the “BAF” software by making changes to the reference and regulatory information used in the processing of data.
- Support the registration of transactions and organisation of document flow in the accounting system.
- Support in processing banking and cash transactions.
- Support the team in drafting contracts with counterparties.
- Ensure compliance with the procedure for maintaining travel documents and checking the relevance of reports.
- Coordinate with programme departments on documentation related to programme activities (grants, agreements, etc.).
About you
Required:
- Experience of 3 years in accounting.
- Knowledge of the legislation on accounting and tax accounting.
- Previous experience working with NGOs.
- University degree in the related field or equivalent (Accounting, Audit, Finance).
- Proficiency in Ukrainian and Russian.
- English is an asset.
