Overview

Assist in financial and accounting operations, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

You have:

  • High School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finances, or related fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; prior experience in SAP or Oracle financial systems is an advantage.
  • Fluency in French is required, with a working knowledge of English.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government organizations or government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Contract

This is a G-4 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 4 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-4 contracts.

Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in SAP is a distinct advantage;
  • Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way;
  • Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; prior experience in SAP or Oracle financial systems is an advantage.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and audit procedures.
  • Ability to apply specialized financial knowledge effectively.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, government, or non-governmental institutions in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
  • Strong IT skills, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in French is required, with a working knowledge of English.

Responsibilities

  1. Extract and input data from various sources in financial or accounting systems;
  2. Respond to accounting, budget or financial queries regarding data from staff in the unit and elsewhere;
  3. Monitor submission and liquidation of advances
  4. Review all types of payments starting from purchase to payment requests verifying that they are duly authorized, and all the supporting documents are attached therewith;
  5. Assist in reviewing vendor transactions to verify accuracy and compliance with IOM procedures and inform any inconsistencies to the supervisor.
  6. Perform claim verifications against documentation to check that purchases/services are properly authorized and that the goods have been received or services rendered;
  7. Assist in compiling financial documentation to support operational processes.
  8. Assist in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial, statistical reports and other reports as required;
  9. Provide assistance to all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc;
  10. Perform other related duties as required
