Overview

Assist with finance and budget functions within UN-Habitat

You have:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in accounting, finance, or project administration required.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Fluency in French is desirable but not required.

The individual contractor will support the Finance and Budget Unit with the provision of satisfactory service delivery with regards to the above listed functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the UN agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. Under the general guidance of the Chief of Budget and Finance and direct supervision of the Associate Finance Officer, the individual contractor will perform the following functions: 1. Process Service Orders and Sales Orders including maintaining the list of balances for 64HCR. 2. Issue donor receipts. 3. Support accounts payable, incl. payment and management of bills and liabilities. 4. Create WBS elements for budget allocations. 5. Assist in the creation of unreleased and released budget in unearmarked grants. 6. Support in the management of accounting adjustments. 7. Assist in the processing of allocation and allotment documents. 8. Support the monitoring and following-up on outstanding audit recommendations. 9. Assist in the management of cost recoveries inwards and outwards. 10. Support the maintenance of the organizational structure of the organization. 11. Assist in the preparation of periodic reporting documents. 12. Support with data extraction, processing and analysis. 13. Perform any other duties for the Finance and Budget Unit as may be assigned and required.

Qualifications/special skills

The candidate should have completed high school diploma. A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the fields of accounting, finance and project administration is required

Languages

English and French are the working languages for the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in English is required.
