You have:
- Advanced University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related fields, or First University degree in the same subject(s) with additional years of related work experience plus membership in a recognized professional accountancy body.
- Desired 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in Finance, Budget and Programming, Accountant, or other relevant programmes.
- Fluent in French (Mandatory).
- Working knowledge of English (Mandatory).
- Knowledge of research methods and monitoring and evaluation standards is desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Good diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
Contract
This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Finance & Administration, the applicant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support corporate finance and resource management strategies and major ongoing programmatic initiatives, participating where appropriate using finance and resource management expertise.
- Analyse and report on key data for financial status and outcomes of projects in accordance with corporate governance requirements, ensuring accuracy, deadlines, and accounting processes are complied with.
- Monitor and analyse Country Portfolio Budgets (CPB) according to established corporate procedures and requirements.
- Collate and analyse data for the preparation of accurate and timely reporting, in order to provide management with financial, accounting and budgetary information to enable them to make informed decisions.
- Proactively contribute ideas to senior officers for improvement to systems, techniques, tools, processes and procedures to better monitor and manage budgets and funds.
- Conduct specific cost-analysis of core business and administrative functions.
- Develop Financial Forecasting of Program Activities for Decision Making and Reporting.
- Support the capacity building of WFP staff in budgeting, fund management and operational planning through answering queries and updating training materials, manuals and guidelines.
- Track and analyse data to identify opportunities for improvements to policies, systems and procedures in order to minimise financial risks, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and ensure services are aligned with business objectives.
- Deliver financial controls and insight into WFP performance, undertaking periodic risk and internal control assessments to identify areas which may present potential audit, compliance or financial risks.

Experience remark
- Desired 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in Finance , Budget and Programming, or Accountant, or other relevant programmes; experience with INTL NGO or UN is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;

Area of expertise details
