Overview

Provide financial and accounting support activities

You have:

  • Bachelor degree in economics, finance, accounting, business administration or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar position; experience in Humanitarian agencies will be an added value.
  • Working knowledge of English and Arabic languages.
  • Syrian Nationality.

Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO Syria Country Office is to assist government to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop the agricultural fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the overall supervision of the Assistant FAOR Administrative and Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative.

Financial and accounting support activities.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Maintain financial records for day-to-day transactions for which responsibility is assigned; and make sure of proper recording on the shared drive FAOSY workspace. • Manage the Country Office petty cash; • Retrieve, enter, select and analyse data from a wide variety of sources, including FAO’s corporate systems and data bases, verify accuracy of data documents; make necessary calculations and produce reports as required; • Prepare correspondence of administrative and financial nature; draft correspondence to verify data, answer queries, and obtain additional information on transactions and financial matters; • Maintain a filing system of administrative and financial documents; • Maintain liaison with local banks and financial institutions to keep up-to-date with financial and regulatory information; • Support the streamlining of procedures and practices and the introduction of new information technologies to the office; • Following up on outstanding payments and make sure of completing the payments efficiently and Timely. • Provide local travel assistance functions for National staff & Consultants and NST based on the Organization’s rules and regulations, through raising Local LTAs, LTECs clearance, through GRMS online systems; • Provide travel assistance functions in preparing payments for workshops and to Maintain travel records and related financial transactions. • Maintain local inventory records with responsibility for proper recording of assets, their • Maintenance and safeguard. • Perform other related administrative duties as required by the supervisor.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor degree in economics, finance, accounting, business administration or related fields. • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar position; experience in Humanitarian agencies will be an added Value. • Working knowledge of English and Arabic languages. • Syrian Nationality.
