Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the **Chief, Budget Unit and Chief, Finance and Budget Section***,* the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Budget-related

• Assist in the preparation of annual budget for the mission using Umoja Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) and populating all required documentation for submission to UN Headquarters;
• Assist in the preparation of budget performance reports and populating all required documentation for submission to UN Headquarters;
• Assist in the preparation of budget projections and management of the current year budget.
• Monitor budget expenditures and prepare the required reports and analysis;
• Prepare and process redeployment of funds;
• Provide budget and expenditure information to mission clients as needed;

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

A university degree (bachelor’s degree) in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related area; a high school diploma, professional qualification in accounting or equivalent will be accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree; technical training in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or equivalent, is highly desirable; professional

Required experience:

36 Months

Experience remark:

At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in budget or finance; experience in budgeting and financial management information systems;

Language skills:

• English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
• French(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge

Area of expertise:

Finance, accounting and audit

Area of expertise details:

Solid computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing; knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems such as SAP or another ERP system is highly desirable.
