The incumbent provides support in the implementation of the security plan and on matters of safety and security with the goal of keeping UNESCO personnel and office facilities safe and secure. In coordination with the Finance and Administrative Project Officer who remains the Security Focal Point, the incumbent will: \- Assist with the preparation of any security related documents, in accordance with UNESCO mandate and UNSMS policies and guidance. \- Work closely with UNDSS and security officers from other agencies to implement security policies within UNESCO in accordance with the directives, policies, and United Nations procedures. \- Monitor the local security situation and reports on the security developments and incidents that affects safety and security in the Office or for Field missions. \- Provide weekly updates to the Management and ADM/SEC on the security situation and specific incidents that may impact staff safety and UNESCO activities. \- Help assessing prevailing local security conditions and related level of risk, in the office or for Field Missions. \- Support the timely dissemination of security advisories to UNESCO personnel, in agreement with and/or as instructed by the senior management. \- Monitor and facilitates the compliance with and the implementation of UNESCO and UNSMS security policies, such as SRM measures. \- Advise Senior management on readiness for evacuation/relocation. \- Report on the control inventory and safekeeping of all security and safety equipment. \- Without any prejudice of UNESCO framework of accountability, supports the Designated Official in the context of the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) structures and policies, under the coordination of the local Principal/Chief/Security Advisor. \- Liaise and exchange security-related information with UNDSS and other UN agencies in the area. \- Coordinate as appropriate with the host government security organizations and/or personnel including national and local provincial authorities, military and police officers as well as NGO in the area of operation.
