This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

WFP Lebanon provides humanitarian assistance to over 2 million vulnerable persons for food and other essential needs through cash-based transfers and in-kind food. WFP Lebanon also provides food assistance in the form of snacks and fresh food to school aged students and promotes resilient livelihoods and sustainable food systems. In addition to direct assistance to the most food insecure and vulnerable people, WFP also supports government institutions, partners, and other entities to strengthen their capacity to deliver social assistance. This UNV assignment is part of WFP Lebanon – Beirut, South and Mount Lebanon Field Office where the Monitoring and Evaluation team works towards the benefits of the beneficiaries making sure that the correct assistance is being received properly and to the right beneficiaries. The UN Volunteer will support the Field Office in the implementation of its programme activities targeting food insecure refugees, extremely poor Lebanese communities, school-age children, and participants in livelihood and resilience programmes that seek to build resilience, assets and human capacity by monitoring all the activities and providing regular feedback.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme associate or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the national UN Volunteer (Field Monitoring Assistant) will:

• Collect, sort and disseminate correspondence, reports and other material to meet the required demands of staff to time standards. • Respond to routine queries received and escalate where appropriate, to provide a timely and accurate service to the beneficiaries. • Contribute to the production of Monitoring and Evaluation documents, such as standard reports and correspondence, to contribute to the accuracy of written information developed by the unit. • Provide a set of standard business support activities, where required, to contribute to the effective functioning of Monitoring and Evaluation operations. • Make distribution arrangements and support Phone calls, assessments, validation etc., to support Field Office work effectively. • Support in managing the Monitoring and evaluation section files, documents related to the field operations, and records in accordance with established systems and processes so that information is current and readily available. • Collect monitoring information and undertake standard data entry tasks in accordance with defined systems, to ensure information is organized and readily available for the business team. • Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation. • Follow set Food assistance response processes and procedures for refugees and NPTP programmes. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

monitoring and evaluation, program monitoring and reporting with national or international non profit organizations, or other relevant programmes; experience with UN agencies is an asset, as is experience working in other international development organization. • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in working with the beneficiaries and partners, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in in Beirut. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
