This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Livelihoods Progamme Associate or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Livelihoods Field Monitoring Assistant will:

  • Support the Livelihoods (LH) team in the North Lebanon field offices in the implementation and coordination with cooperating partners in the field to ensure proper implementation of livelihood activities adhering to WFP processes and standards of work;
  • Participant outreach and information sessions: Provide feedback on Cooperating Partner (CP) information session presentation draft and assist CPs in conducting information sessions; ensure outreach processes are conducted according to guidelines; conduct sample check through phone calls on the Vulnerability Assessment for Lebanese to check discrepancies and flag any recurring issues with LH Programme Associate;
  • Field visits: Conduct at least one field visit per project site per month to follow-up on timely implementation as well as project quality; Update weekly the project visits schedule and the monthly work plan in close dialogue with the LH Programme Associate and team;
  • Draft CP visit reports for the LH Programme Associate that document challenges, progress and improvements in implementation;
  • LH E-card distribution: Facilitate monthly e-card and pin distribution in coordination with CPs; follow up on no-show cases with the Database Manager;
  • Payments for participants: Track and follow-up on CPs timely submission of service lists, scanned attendance sheets, electronic attendance sheets and payment lists; conduct spot checks on submitted attendance sheets compared to payment lists and conduct sample check phone calls follow up directly with LH Programme Associate if irregularities are detected;
  • Conduct gender-sensitive focus group discussions and other community-level assessments as part of needs analyses and mapping and when requested as inputs for assessments and studies by Quobayat Field Office (QFO) or Country Office (CO);
  • When needed, review reporting package (report, output matrix, workplan) submitted by CPs and share feedback with the livelihoods Programme Associate;
  • Drafting minutes of meetings and share with LH Programme Associate;
  • Collect needed data from Agriculture partners and liaise with the LH Programme Associate for the preparation of regional maps;
  • Perform other related duties as required and deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • University degree (Bachelor’s) in food security, agriculture, international development, economics or relevant social science major;

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian response in the food security sector and Livelihood programming;
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience in coordination and chairing meetings;
  • Solid ability to work with diverse stakeholders and develop consensus;
  • Strong networking skills;
  • Thorough knowledge of North Lebanon region and Tripoli/Akkar local government system, and understanding of the region’s food supply chain;
  • Arabic fluency and working knowledge of English, verbal and written.
