In IOM Ecuador, there are 6 sub-offices nationwide located in Quito, Manta, Guayaquil, Tulcán, Huaquillas, and Lago Agrio. The National Field Coordination is responsible for monitoring and promoting strategies that facilitate the implementation of IOM interventions in the territory. Therefore, the Field Assistant will provide support to the activities of the National Field Coordination team based on his/her knowledge and skills.

Under the direct supervision of the National Field Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Follow-up the implementation of locally executed activities and suggest improvements to the interventions of the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador. • Support the National Field Coordination team in providing an effective response to AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) pathways. • Assist the National Field Coordination team in the effective operation of case management tools implemented in the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador. • Assist the National Field Coordination team and the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador in aspects related to coordination with national programmatic units and mission support areas. • Provide support and follow-up on the elaboration of situational reports from the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador. • Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of activities within the framework of the Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP).
• Provide support in preparing the terms of reference for consultants, contractors, and procurement processes for goods and services in coordination with project's administrative area and the procurement unit of the IOM office. • Assist in administrative, financial, and logistical processes to support local-level interventions. • Perform any other duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor, in accordance with his/her capabilities.

Quito, officially known as San Francisco de Quito (also referred to as the Metropolitan District of Quito), is the capital of the Republic of Ecuador and the Province of Pichincha. It is the most populous city in Ecuador and the city with the highest presence of migrants and refugees in the country. The city is mainly located on the western valleys that are part of the Guayllabamba River basin, which is situated on the eastern slopes of the active volcanic stratum Pichincha, in the Western Cordillera of the northern Andes of Ecuador, at an average altitude of 2800 meters above sea level.

Conditions of service:

The contract lasts for the period indicated above, with the possibility of extensions subject to the availability of funding, operational needs, and satisfactory performance. However, renewal of the assignment is not planned.

Transportation to the workplace (if applicable) and an installation subsidy will be provided if the work destination is not within a reasonable distance from the recruitment site. The Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, ordinary subsistence expenses. Life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included, as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
