Overview

You have:

  • Minimum age: 22 years old.
  • Applicants must be refugees in the country of assignment.
  • Required: High School diploma and/or certificate/license in Development Studies, Human Rights, Community Development/Social Work, Social Science, Political Science, international law.
  • Essential: At least 1 year of relevant professional work experience with a High School Diploma.
  • Desired: 2 years of previous work experience relevant to the function with Bachelors, equivalent or higher degree.
  • English (Mandatory), Level - Fluent.
  • Spanish (Mandatory), Level - Fluent.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be refugees in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Associate Protection Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Field Assistant will:

Assist in administrative tasks as required such as preparation of reports, meeting authorized personnel and assisting them during field missions.

· Facilitate Interpretation when required by local authorities in support of registration, extension of stay permit, medical assistance, COVID measures, contribute to related liaison activities and respond directly to routine queries.

· Support persons of concern in accessing public services, including by liaising with service providers.

· Assist in the reception, registration, and provision of assistance to persons of concern to UNHCR.

· Provide functional and administrative support in implementing participatory approaches, needs assessments, monitoring, reporting and case management.

· Assist in drafting reports, routine correspondence, and compiling statistics within the Area of Responsibility (AoR).

· Identify vulnerable Persons of Concern and refer them to UNHCR and/or to relevant Government services.

· Enforce integrity in the delivery of protection services.

· Provide counselling to persons of concern in need of protection assistance and support and ensure proper feedback is provided to persons of concern.

· Assess the needs of vulnerable persons of concern, identify assistance and propose relevant solutions as required.

· Operate the UNHCR hotline acting according to established ToRs and providing information or referral as needed.

· Assist in exploring opportunities for mainstreaming persons of concern into available local services, particularly health and educational services.

· Conduct and support regularly community outreach meetings, participatory assessments, and other mechanisms for consultations with persons of concern.

· Contribute to age, gender and diversity mainstreaming in all activities undertaken.

· Support in the identification of persons of concern for Livelihood’s activities as per established SOPs.

· Identify, document and report challenges faced by persons of concern to UNHCR in accessing services and in exercising basic rights.

· Support the preparation and implementation of monitoring activities of UNHCR programmes in the AoR, including post-distribution monitoring exercises.

· Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Required degree level:

Experience remark:

Essential: At least 1 year of relevant professional work experience with a High School Diploma,

· Desired: 2 years of previous work experience relevant to the function with Bachelors, equivalent or higher degree at the national and in social work or activities targeting vulnerable populations, or other relevant programmes; experience with protection of refugees, asylum seekers and other displaced populations is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
