Monitor and analyze media for trends affecting Afghans.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Media Studies, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in media monitoring or information analysis.
  • Fluency in English and Pashto/Dari, both written and spoken.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess information from various sources.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Job Description

- Scan and monitor national, regional and international newspapers, television, digital media, including social media for news items on topics that is covered by the project. - Use standard tools to determine the information needs of Afghans based on postings on social media and other platforms, and other analysis of the topics. - Monitor and assess the new policies, regulations and procedures introduced by the Afghan state, particularly in reference to civil document applications. - Compile the information and produce daily briefs to share with the Project Coordinator and Editorial Manager. - Monitor international e-papers to ensure that all developments/ updates related to resettlement programs offered to Afghans are captured. - Compose and prepare weekly reports for the project team on current information trends among Afghans, both inside and outside the country, and information resources available to them. - Develop and update the project’s information on the topics covered, i.e., resettlement programs, services provided to Afghans and any other relevant subject. - Check and identify out of date information available on Beporsed website and social media platforms. - Identify topics or subjects that the project needs to development information on and publish on its digital media platforms. - Ensuring the project captures the latest information needs trends among Afghans inside and outside the country. - Conduct a system wide status check twice daily (morning & evening) and report results to - supervisor. - Provide alerts to the Project Coordinator and Editorial Manager of potential urgent information requirements for Afghans or emerging crisis in the country that appears on media. - Actively monitor trends in the media for information requirements related to Afghanistan and Afghans and report same to the supervisor. - Liaise with colleagues at the IRC Kabul staff to gather information about service providers on the field (provinces). - Maintain and up to date issues log. - Other related task and assignments as required.
