Assist with research and analysis in major events security and prevention of violent extremism.
You have:
- An advanced University degree (Master or equivalent) in criminology, political science, international relations or related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree with two (2) additional years of professional work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Proficiency in English (oral and written fluency) is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
- Previous working experience in the area of major events security and in the field of sport as a tool to preventing violent extremism is desirable.
- Previous relevant experience with the United Nations or similar large international organizations is also desirable.
Result of Service The Fellow will be responsible for supporting the work and activities of the Global Programme by conducting research and analysis in the fields of major event security and the prevention of violent extremism (PVE).

Expected duration From February to July 2022 (6 months, possible extension subject to performance and availability of funds)
Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Programme Officer, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: - Conduct research, collect data and analyse national, regional and international policies of major events security and counter-terrorism related regulations, cataloguing and storing relevant resources; - Collect and analyse research and trends regarding National and International Sport Federations, Academies, International Organizations and other relevant stakeholders or initiatives in relation to major sporting events security and categorize findings; - Develop training modules and related learning tools on major events security and PVE based on the research findings; - Contribute to the review of research, reports and training material developed by civil society organizations within the framework of their projects in the area of sport as a tool to prevent violent extremism; - Support in the development and drafting of good practice documents as well as in analysis of data collected through project activities; - Draft and review reports, publications, background documents and other relevant material in the framework of the Global Programme; - Support in the draft of speeches and presentations to be delivered in meetings, workshops and conferences; - Provide substantive inputs in preparation of meetings, training courses, seminars, workshops, including by conducting background research, drafting concept notes and identifying relevant speakers; - Participate in technical and coordination meetings and field missions; - Perform any other duty as required.
Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: An advanced University degree (Master or equivalent) in criminology, political science, international relations or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of professional work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: Work experience is not required for fellows with a Master’s degree. Previous working experience in the area of major events security and in the field of sport as a tool to preventing violent extremism is desirable. Previous relevant experience with the United Nations or similar large international organizations is also desirable. Language: Proficiency (i.e. oral and written fluency) in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
