Overview

Support fatality verification and human rights monitoring.

You have:

  • Bachelor degree in Law or political science or high school diploma with one year of relevant experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including recording data methodologically and using spreadsheets efficiently, is required
  • Proficiency in social media applications is required
  • Familiarity with the Palestinian context, especially Gaza, is desirable
  • Languages: Arabic and English are required, Hebrew is desirable

Result of Service

• Weekly summary of fatality related information (including name, sex, DOB, date and location of deaths, and sources) systematically recorded in the Excel template, based on extensive research on social media, media sources and other reports, in accordance with OHCHR monitoring methodology, under the guidance of Human Rights Officer in charge of fatality verification and the head of Gaza suboffice; • Daily summary for daily situation reports on the human rights situation of the area of assignment, as requested by the head of Gaza suboffice; • Actively participate in the work of OHCHR OPT monitoring team as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support fatality verification, including by undertaking extensive research on social media and media sources, following human rights organizations publications, and recording relevant information on Excel in a systematic and methodological manner. • Information-gathering on the human rights situation in Gaza, including by supporting area monitoring.

Qualifications/special skills

Bachelor degree in Law or political science or high school diploma with one year of relevant experience Intermediate Excel skills, including recording data methodologically and using spreadsheets efficiently, is required Proficiency in social media applications is required. Familiarity with the Palestinian context, especially Gaza, is desirable.
