Org. Setting and Reporting This position is within the Liquidation Team of the African Union - United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), at El Fasher Logistics Base. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Operations Pillar.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Facilities and Camp Closure Coordinator will perform the following duties:

1.Coordinate implementation of pre-closure activities and reduction of the footprint. - Implement measures for continuous reduction of the physical footprint of the Operation in line with the liquidation schedules, - Lead the implementation of location-specific pre-closure activities related to completion of final physical verifications and cost-benefit analyses, - Make recommendations for asset disposition, including retrieval for further utilization, and/or methods of disposal, - Coordinate the decommissioning / retrieval / disposal of assets in collaboration with Property Pillar, - Coordinate with the Property Pillar and UNGSC on the transfer of assets to United Nations Reserve and other operations, - Lead the completion of environmental clearance activities, (initial and final environmental clean-ups), including review of environmental reports, and audit observations (OIOS and BOA), •Consolidate office space, decommission unused premises, with a view to continuously reduce the physical footprint.

2. Oversee provision of essential support services. - Provides effective and timely planning, oversight, management and coordination of Camp support Facilities. Ensures effective and timely provision and coordination of diverse Camp support Facilities, - Monitor ongoing operations of the facilities and camp support teams, ensuring uninterrupted provision of essential support services, including facilities management, water and wastewater management, energy supply, solid waste treatment, environmental management systems and wider environmental impact, - Liaise with other sections of the Liquidation Team, including but not limited to Technical Sections, Procurement Section, Movements Section on engineering support services and environmental related matter, - Raises requisitions for the procurement of required goods and services and monitors actual costs and utilization, - Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief of Operations Pillar,

3. Provide effective management, oversight and administration of facilities and camp support teams. - Plan and manage the work of the Engineering and Environmental Protection Section, - Support the work of the Liquidation Team by improving the ways of working and implementing liquidation activities, - Ensure harmonious workplace environment, - Monitor and manage performance of staff, - Develop and monitor the implementation of the Section Workplan, - Lead, manage and direct all staff of the Section, - Identify and undertake measures for addressing human resources gaps, - Encourage innovation through training, capacity building and skills development, - Monitor the utilization and implement the utilization of the Section’s budget, - Performs other related duties as required.

Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Logistics, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Certification in project management methodologies (PRINCE2 or equivalent) is desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in logistics operations and engineering support is required. Experience in planning, execution and evaluation of engineering projects is required. Experience in the reconfiguration of a large field operation is required. Experience in performance monitoring and reporting is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
