External Communications Assistant
Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Under the supervision of Assistant Resident Representative, Head of the CIP Team:
- Draft, polish and edit external outreach and communications materials, including speeches, Op-Eds, press releases, media talking points, website write-ups, etc.
- Drafts international social media (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and/or other platforms) articles and posts;
- Create multimedia content (videos, photo stories, interactive articles, etc.)
- Assists with managing and updating the UNDP China website
Assists in conducting research, compiling background materials, statistical data and briefing notes for media events;
Monitors media exposure, drafts media summaries and conduct basic analysis
- Other Ad Hoc Task Forces Requested by the Supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in international relations, communications, journalism, or other relevant fields or related fields is highly favoured.
- Candidates with undergraduate degrees with extensive relevant experience will also be considered.
Required experience:
36 Months
Experience remark:
- Minimum 3-5 year’s working experience. Previous working experience in a research institute or media would be desirable;
- Demonstrable ability to maintain effective communications with international stakeholders;
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
- Chinese(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Journalism, mass media and broadcasting, Public information and reporting, Other communications related experience
