Overall purpose of the role: In 2022 DRC will launch a humanitarian mine action programme, initially composed of Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and EORE in South Kordofan, Sudan. DRC is therefore looking for a dedicated EORE Officer to support the launch and implementation of a new project beginning in August.

The EORE Officer will work in close coordination with the EORE Team Lead, EORE Operators, NTS team and the NTS/EORE Project Manager to support the planning and quality delivery of EORE in different community settings and using different mediums, targeting women, girls, boys and men exposed to risks from explosive ordnance in the target areas. They will play a leading role in training facilitation in EORE to other team members, partners and to community focal points, coordinate the development of awareness raising materials, and support in project monitoring and delivering quality reporting of EORE activities.

Responsibilities:

Project Implementation

  • In coordination with the EORE team, provide support to the prioritisation, planning, delivery and monitoring of EORE activities, ensuring compliance with National Mine Action Standards and DRC’s Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support induction and training of new EORE team members and partners
  • Lead on the development of tools and methodology for community-level survey activities supporting baseline / endline data collection, and Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) surveys
  • Ensure the quality of EORE sessions delivered in the community using DRC’s quality assurance tools
  • Lead the elaboration of EORE awareness raising materials and EORE public information campaigns with the EORE team
  • Develop and maintain close coordination with the project’s partner, acting as the primary focal point for day-to-day coordination and participate in partner capacity assessment and provision of support as required
  • Reporting
  • Keep accurate records of project activities and outputs, and ensure project monitoring databases are up to date according to DRC procedures
  • Contribute to donor reports and new project proposals as required
  • Report issues faced during project implementation to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate the development of success stories and lessons learned for development of donor reports and case studies
  • Any other duties as directed by the Line Manager
  • Experience and technical competencies:
  • Vocational school, higher education is an asset
  • Previous training and experience in EORE
  • Knowledge of International/National Mine Action Standards
  • Languages: (indicate fluency level)
  • Arabic
  • Good knowledge of the English language (verbal and written)
  • Experience in conducting community engagement and delivering awareness raising activities
  • Experience in conducting surveys, data collection and analysis
  • Computer literate
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in Arabic and English
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of local communities and community dynamics
  • Experience and willingness to work in the field in remote and volatile areas
  • Driving license
  • 3 years working experience
