Overview

Monitor and report on WASH projects and activities, ensuring effective implementation and coordination.

You have:

  • High school diploma with seven years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s Degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience supporting emergency relief, humanitarian or development activities; proven ability to interact successfully with key partners is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the use of MS-Excel and database (MS Access) management.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience in using basic design or visualization software (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator and ArcGIS) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity and professionalism in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical, planning and coordination skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.

Contract

This is a G-7 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 7 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-7 contracts.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Programme Coordinator (Housing & WASH), the direct supervision of the Project Officer (WASH IM & GIS) and in close coordination with the Hub Leads and other technical programme specialists, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring of Water, Sanitation and Heating (WASH) projects and activities and reporting for the programme in coordination with relevant colleagues, partners and municipalities. She/he will support in the development, deployment and analysis of monitoring tools to closely monitor and track Housing & WASH activities. In addition to following up on the work of reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma with seven years of relevant experience; or

SKILLS

Responsibilities

  1. Independently lead and coordinate the implementation of the project; monitor implementation of the activities to ensure work is proceeding according to established plans; analyse implementation difficulties and make recommendations for adjusting implementation modalities and work plans to best reflect changing environment on the field.
  2. Regularly research, follow-up, compile, analyse and present information/data on national, regional and international developments, reports, legislation and other relevant documentation, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
  3. Monitor budget expenditures; verify availability of funds and maintain a proper record of approved project budgets and their revisions.
  4. Coordinate and monitor the financial, administrative and technical aspects of the project in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
  5. Plan, coordinate and conduct capacity building workshops for relevant internal and external parties.
  6. Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
  7. Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, narrative and financial reports; ensure status reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
  8. Identify and document good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP), policies and concept papers and support the development of new projects.
  9. Supervise and provide guidance and training to reporting staff.
  10. Support the coordination of Housing & WASH-related meetings with external stakeholders, including government counterparts, other aid actors, and affected population, as well as relevant cluster and technical working groups, as instructed by Programme Manager and Program Officer.
  11. Provide support to the project team in the preparation of regular reports, as required, by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information on various aspects of the project including financial, technical and schedule compliance.
  12. Support the use and maintenance of monitoring tools, compile and analyse project data and contribute to MEAL reporting to monitor project implementation and results.
  13. Draft and consolidate clear and concise reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donors.
  14. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
