You have:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Climate Change, Disaster Management, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with international organizations and humanitarian actors.
  • Experience in project management and implementation.
  • Experience in data collection, research, and report writing.
  • Fluency in English and Bangla (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of social and development issues as well as general migration related issues.
  • Demonstrable experience of sensitivity and best practices in working with communities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with relational databases and Microsoft Office.

Contract

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Bangladesh and direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and in coordination with the Snr. Emergency Coordinator the successful candidate will contribute to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities aimed at enabling stronger community level resilience linked to livelihoods and economic opportunities; community cohesion; access to services; and preparedness for natural disasters overseen by the DDRRU.

S/he will provide technical support and coordination to human mobility and climate change initiatives related to monitoring and evaluation and government liaison.

Qualifications

Education:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Climate Change, Disaster Management, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Master’s degree in the above fields will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • Proven experience working with international organizations and the humanitarian actors.
  • Experience in project management and implementation.
  • Experience in data collection, research, and report writing.
  • Knowledge of social and development issues as well as generai migration related issues.
  • Demonstrable experience of sensitivity and best practices in working with communities.
  • Good knowledge of programme development, administration, evaluation concepts and procedures.
  • Experience in relevant issues such as migration, displacement, and humanitarian assistance would be an asset

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
  • Strong computer background, including experience with relational databases, Microsoft applications, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Work effectively with donors, local authorities, beneficiaries and the broader community to advance country office or regional objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of subject areas related to migration and community stabilization dealt with by the Organization.

    Languages:

Required-Fluency in English and Bangla (oral and written).

Desirable-Working knowledge of any local dialects spoken in Bangladesh is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinate the implementation of CA&HM programming comprising of several national, global and regional projects.
  2. Ensure timely and quality reporting to development partners.
  3. Support resource mobilization efforts in coordination with Supervisor/s in coordination with relevant units identifying funding opportunities, participating in the development of proposals and budget and establishing partnership with other UN agencies, I/N/LNGOS and private sector.
  4. Maintain close coordination and partnership with government counterparts namely Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, etc. supporting programme implementation efforts
  5. Liaise with relevant regional office and headquarter units, ensure timely response to their queries.
  6. Supervise and coach the relevant staff to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery;
  7. Provide technical information on climate change thematic, support different intergovernmental processes pertaining to the thematic area of CA & HM to the Head of Unit and Senior Management.
  8. In coordination with the Snr. Media and Communications Associate draft and finalize different communication materials for the CA&HM programme including presentation, speeches and talking points for the management.
  9. Undertake duty travel relating to programme implementation, liaison with counterparts, problem solving, monitoring of work and direct implementation where necessary;
  10. Assist with in-house coordination among different sections/programs in the mission;
  11. Provide backstopping support to other projects implemented under the unit.
  12. Perform any other tasks within the incumbent’s capacity as requested by supervisor.
