Result of Service Revenue is generated for the organization and UNPA is well represented at the international/European stamp exhibitions. The UN philatelic items are properly promoted and mails are cancelled and franked according to regional postal rules and regulations. Constructive and successful interactions with representatives of other Postal Administrations, stamp show organizers, journalists, artists, stamp dealers, collectors’ club representatives. Satisfied customers and smooth functioning of sales and customer services at the UNPA stamp shows.

Work Location UNPA Order Filling Office, Vienna International Centre, Wagramerstrasse 5, 1400 Vienna, Austria and exhibition venues.

Expected duration 1 August - 31 December 2022 (60 days between August and December as per current Covid19 situation)

Duties and Responsibilities The contractor will act as an exhibition sales agent at different European stamp shows, including travelling by car, plane and rail, also on weekends and during the night. Prepare exhibition stock of UN philatelic items in time before the stamp show. Make sure all relevant items and materials for the sales and information stand are available to be sent to the stamp show location on time. Cooperate with relevant colleagues with regards to the overall organization of the event, show products and the show cancellation. At the exhibition venue, construct and decorate UNPA sales counter. Inform philatelic customers and stamp collectors about new United Nations stamp issues, sales policies, and subscription modalities as well as other relevant information concerning UNPA’s current Programme of issues. Bank all proceeds from the exhibition into the UN bank account within 24 hours of the end of the show. Take inventory of the exhibition stock after return from the show. Submit final overall report including financial statement for each stamp show. In addition, the contractor will follow-up on the status of customer requests and liaise with UNPA Office in Vienna (Austria) on a regular basis.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: A high school diploma is required. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in handling stamps and philatelic products is required. Good knowledge of UNPA philatelic products is required. Good knowledge of postal rules and regulations is required. Good manual skills to handle stamps and other philatelic products is desirable. Professionalism, client-orientation and accountability is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English, German and French is required. Knowledge of Italian language is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
