IIEP was established in 1963 as an integral part of UNESCO. It supports ministries of education around the world and other key actors to plan and manage education systems through its programmes of training, technical assistance, policy research and knowledge sharing. The Institute launched its new Medium-Term Strategy (2022-2024) in December 2021. It draws on core and project funding to achieve its goals and objectives. This position is located in IIEP’s [Buenos Aires Office](https://www.buenosaires.iiep.unesco.org/). Under the overall authority of the Director of IIEP and immediate supervision of the Head of Office of IIEP Buenos Aires, and within the framework of IIEP’s mandate and Medium-Term Strategy, the incumbent will support the Head of Office of IIEP Buenos Aires in strategic planning and assist in the monitoring of the project portfolio. He or she will serve as fundraising focal point for the Office, supporting the Head of Office and colleagues’ fundraising efforts. The incumbent will collect project information, and coordinate the reporting of project results for institutional presentations and briefings as needed. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** ------------------------------- **1. SUPPORT IN STRATEGIC PLANNING AND REPORTING:** - Supports the Head of Office of IIEP Buenos Aires in strategic planning and reporting activities. - Assists the monitoring of the project portfolio by participating in regular and follow-up meetings with programmatic teams, maintaining an overview of ongoing project activities. - Leads weekly coordination meeting between the team leaders of programmatic areas of the office. - Collects project information and generates ad hoc reports, presentations and briefings requested by the Head of Office. - Assists the Head of Office and the programmatic areas in the review and follow-up of the objectives and lines of action established in the Office’s Action Plan for 2022-2025. - Supports the team in the co-definition of priority thematic axes for 2024. - Organizes and leads end of year meeting with complete team to reflect on progress against the defined objectives of the office and of each area. - Assists the Head of Office in other related tasks as requested. SUPPORT IN FUNDRAISING EFFORTS:** - Serves as fundraising focal point for the Office, carrying out the following activities: - Considering the overall IIEP Resource Mobilization (RM) Strategy, and the 2023 Annual RM Plan, assists the Head of Office in the development of the 2024 Annual RM plan for the Office, including: - Evaluation of the results of the previous year. - Prioritization of potential donors/partners to be addressed in 2024. - Possible outreach and fundraising strategies by priority thematic axes, articulating internal lines of action and considering possible strategic alliances beyond fundraising). - Reviews the status of the Office's resource mobilization efforts on a regular basis. - In collaboration with the Administration Officer, organizes quarterly review meetings with teams and prepares briefing report for IIEP Paris. - Regularly updates internal Follow-up document of extrabudgetary initiatives with the programmatic teams. - Supports colleagues in the approach and negotiations of fundraising initiatives. - Assists the Head of office in the preparation of missions and international events. - Carries out a mapping of the main political and thematic events of the education agenda at the regional level and evaluates/suggests the Office's potential participation in such events. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** - University degree in political science, international relations, public policy, public management, education, or in related fields of the social sciences. **Experience** - Minimum two (2) years of demonstrable experience in the field of strategic planning, international cooperation, policy planning and management, or fundraising. - Experience in national public institutions or international organizations.
