Assist in data management and analysis for immunization programs

You have:

• Four years university degree in Data Management, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant discipline from an accredited/recognized institute.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Data Management.
• Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
• Proficient in using computer application software: MS Office, ability to produce GIS maps, and reports.
• Certificate in Information Technology and Data Management would be an advantage.
• 2 years of working experience in public health programs and working experience in international organizations.

Objective of the programme

To strengthen surveillance, and response to all vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) including increasing and maintaining immunization coverage for all EPI vaccines, surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases; to eradicate the transmission of wild poliomyelitis; measles elimination, to introduce new and underutilized vaccines, to transfer technology for the laboratory diagnosis of VPD and strengthen the capacity of national regulatory authorities.

Description of duties:

• Within the WSO Information Management Unit (IMU) assist to organize, improve and maintain the data management system (Digital and hard copy) of Immunization, Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) surveillance (AFP, Measles, AES, NT), AEFI, SIA and different data activities under the IVD Program and any other immunization/ Vaccine deployment assignment related to health emergencies/pandemics.
• Assist the technical team in the analysis of data and update key performance indicators, produce graphs, charts, maps and other forms of data visualization including maintenance of shape files for mapping utilities based on the immunization and surveillance data routinely to monitor the disease trends and vaccination coverage for reeling, workshops and Ad-Hoc needs.
• Ensure Immunization and surveillance-specific data entry in computerized databases (customized software) managed by the IMU; maintain high-Quality data by regularly reviewing databases for errors and take need-based necessary corrective actions and also provide feedback to the immunization and surveillance team to obtain further information on incomplete/ erroneous.
• In coordination with the IMU, assist to upgrade the database using data management tools (MS Access. MS Excel, EPI Info, DHIS2, Opensource platform.) including modification of existing tools in accordance with the program needs and when required.
• Maintain and update the tracking system for erroneous report, missing information, and late submission of reports, use log sheets and provide feedback to the surveillance network for corrective action and follow-up on compliance with the field offices.
• Assist technical officer in documentation, review/tracking and follow up activities with field offices and also assist to design and maintain IVD photo Bank, Hard-to-Reach (H R) area, High Risk (HR) area, EPI vaccination Centre, EPI Monitoring and Supervision System.
• Undertake travel to field offices for pilot study, training, monitoring, evaluation, assessment, and data validation/quality assurance.
• Support the timely and high-quality collection, analysis, production and dissemination of data/information.
• In consultation with the information management unit design field epidemiological surveys if/where needed, such as mortality and vaccination coverage when required.
• Contribute and maintain information flow between IMU and field (Camp) levels as required.
• Any other task assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Essential: Four years university degree in Data Management, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant discipline from an accredited/recognized institute.

Desirable: Certificate in Information Technology and Data Management would be an advantage.

Experience:

Essential: At least 3 years of professional experience in Data Management

Desirable:

• 2 years of working experience in public health programs and working experience in international organizations.
• Specialized training in IVD, information management systems or relevant discipline.

Computer Literacy: Proficient in using computer application software: MS – Office (World, Excel, PowerPoint), ability to produce GIS maps, and reports, prepare correspondence; compose email, create multi-media presentations; Knowledge of Acrobat Reader, MS Access, SQL, Epi-Info, or SPSS or STATA would be desirable.
