This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

UNICEF was founded in 1946 as an emergency fund to support the most vulnerable children. Today, it works on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. The world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments. UNICEF is working to scale up essential services for adolescent and young people to deliver on their rights to livelihood, health, education, protection, and other essential services, but also to help make their voices heard, reduce their involvement in risky behaviors and conflict and ensure they do not lose hope. Under the supervision of the Executive Officer the Executive Assistant is accountable for administrative support services to the Deputy Representative to enhance the smooth running of the supervisor’s day-to day activities. The Executive Assistant promotes a client, quality and results-oriented approach.

In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. It does not apply to UN Volunteers who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their contracts.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Executive Officer NOB, the UNV Executive Assistant will:

• Maintain the Deputy Representative’s calendar and arrange virtual and in-person meetings. • Prepare documentation for the Deputy Representative’s signature. • Keep track and organize requests for approval. • Draft correspondence, invitations, and responses to written inquiries on routine questions. • Provides secretarial, administrative and logistics support to meetings, missions and events. • Follow up on established deadlines and ensure timely submissions by staff on reports, correspondence and other documents. • Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut, Lebanon. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
