• As an active UNITAD JSU team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support is rendered to UNITAD and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed. • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Team Leader of JSU or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Evidence Analyst will:

• Undertake in-depth research and analysis, including mapping of persons of interest, of complex political, military, paramilitary, and other related activities in crimes committed by ISIL/Da’esh involving serious breaches of international humanitarian law, such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, including sexual and gender-based violence; • Gather, organize and analyze evidence material in UNITAD evidence holdings on foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs) and produce mapping charts; • Provide Member States with battlefield evidence in support of national prosecutors, police or law enforcement agencies with investigative and/or prosecutorial activities; • Assist with classifying, managing and transferring information material by using specialized e-discovery and data management tools, in consultation with UNITAD’s information management and evidence officers; • Undertake computer related duties, including data entry in investigation / evidence registration and management systems; • Liaise closely with investigators, lawyers, information and evidence officers to analyze evidence material and identify further investigative leads; • Identify gaps and trends as well as draft analytical products and assessments to support UNITAD’s structural investigation, investigative interviews and case building activities; • Maintain strict security and confidentiality of information by ensuring that security guidelines are adhered to and that strict procedures are implemented in relation to stored material; • Maintain an understanding of developments relevant for the implementation of UNITAD’s mandate through the monitoring and collection of data and information from multiple sources, including UNITAD component, UN Country Team (UNCT), Iraqi judicial/military/civilian authorities, NGOs, media and other key stakeholders; • Perform any other related duties as may be required to support the team.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in political science, international relations, foreign affairs, criminology, law, or an area related to information systems management and evidence management; a first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree; • At three years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, or other relevant programs; • Experience in research and drafting of analytical products is required; • Experience working in a field or fact-finding mission is an asset; • Experience working in the UN or other international development organizations is an asset; • Excellent oral and written skills; accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing, as well as, excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills are required; • Advanced computer skills are an asset; • Experience with evidence management and review systems is an asset; • Experience with database applications, such as Relativity, iBase, and analytical tool i2 Analysts Notebook, is an asset; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including civil society, and authorities at different levels; ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness; • Have an affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for advancing accountability and the UN System.

Baghdad is a Category E hardship duty station and non-family duty station. The Rest and Recuperation (R&R) cycle for the Baghdad duty station is 4 weeks, with the designated place of R&R being Amman. Movement of international staff is restricted and takes place in UN vehicles. Working for the UN in Iraq provides an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential.

As this is an international UN Volunteer specialist assignment, the HE will be responsible for arranging volunteer housing. International UN Volunteers receive a volunteer living allowance to sustain a basic, adequate, and safe lifestyle. This allowance varies from one location to another depending on local living costs, but all International UN Volunteers specialists in the same location receive the same allowance. Below is a summary of the Conditions of Service. Allowances The purpose of allowances for international UN Volunteers specialists is to enable the international UN Volunteers to sustain a modest and secure standard of living at the duty station. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for volunteer work. Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): All international UN Volunteers specialists are entitled to a monthly volunteer living allowance of USD 3,500.00 The purpose of this allowance is to cover the basic living costs of the international UN Volunteer. The allowance is to ensure that the volunteer can sustain a basic, adequate, and safe lifestyle. The monthly allowance rate is a fixed rate for the duty station as established by UNV headquarters.

There are some ATMs operational in Baghdad. The dominant currency in use in Iraq is USD. The Iraq dinar is used with an exchange rate of approximately USD 1 = 1,220 Ira-qi dinars. The market is mostly cash-based; both USD and Iraqi dinars are widely accepted. Payments by credit cards are accepted in a limited number of shops. UN personnel need to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the culture of the country.
