Duties and Responsibilities This consultancy assignment is with the United Nations Global Compact Office (UNGCO), located in the Global Operations Team in the People's Republic of China.

The United Nations Global Compact is the United Nations' voluntary corporate sustainability initiative in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption. It revolves around ten universal principles drawn from four key international instruments in these areas.

The Global Compact Office is the United Nations entity responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Global Compact initiative. It pursues two complementary objectives: (1) making the Global Compact and its principles part of business strategy and operations everywhere; and (2) facilitating cooperation among key stakeholders by promoting partnerships and collective action in support of United Nations, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Responsibilities:

- Draft a workplan, review the workplan on a regular basis to determine how the project is progressing in terms of schedule and budget, and make timely adjustments.

- Be involved in preparing consultation meetings through working closely with report writer and content development consultant.

- Develop event concept notes, agendas, and materials in coordination and consultation with the content development consultant, report writer, and other relevant stakeholders, to ensure the website content and launch events are aligned and consistent.

- Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual equipment, and other resources.

- Develop and execute communication plans, including virtual and in-person events as appropriate, to promote the launch events of the report and digital platform, including preparing for press releases and one-pager, and to engage relevant media outlets, stakeholders from project countries and partners stakeholders.

- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to secure partnerships to support the launch events.

- Prepare survey in order to evaluate event effectiveness and provide recommendations for future events.

- Prepare regular progress reports, updates, or presentations on the project progress and calibrate with corrective actions whenever needed to ensure the project timeline is strictly followed.

- Draft the meeting minutes and recordings of the organized activities and events, including but not limited to consultations, dialogues, interviews, and training.

- Archive and update all the developed materials in an efficient and well-organized manner.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the project manager to support the successful implementation of the project.

Qualifications/special skills First level university degree in business administration, management, economics, environment, website design, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field is required. An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) is desirable. At least five years of experience in event management, public relations, communications, marketing, and project management related to business, corporate sustainability, or a related field is required. At least three years of experience in organizing launch events, including event planning, coordination, and execution, is required. Experience in organizing and managing launch events, webinars, or other digital communication activities to promote digital platforms and engage stakeholders is desirable. Experience in data analysis and digital marketing, including email marketing, social media marketing, and search engine optimization, is highly desirable.

Languages Fluency in English and Chinese is required.
