Climate Promise is the world’s largest offer of support to countries on national climate pledges under the Paris Agreement. These pledges, or Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), are crucial stepping stones towards net-zero emissions and meeting the Paris goals. The initiative supports over 120 countries, in collaboration with over 35 partners and is as major contribution to the NDC Partnership.

Under overall supervision of the Nature, Climate, Energy, & Waste (NCE&W) Regional Team Leader, and guidance and supervision of the Knowledge Coordinator, the Event Coordinator provides services ensuring high quality, accuracy, and consistency of organization of the Regional Climate Days/Green Transition. The Event Coordinator promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.

The Event Coordinator works in close collaboration with the operations, programme, and projects’ staff in the Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) as well as IRH NCE&W team, and UNDP HQs staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.

Under overall supervision of the NCE&W Regional Team Leader and guidance and supervision of the Knowledge Coordinator, the Event Coordinator will be responsible for organization of the Regional Climate Days/Green Transition and will be responsible for:

• Prepares and conducts a needs assessment by means of a survey and through consultations with the NCE&W team, COs, as well as other IRH teams including Gender, SDG/inclusive growth, Innovation, DRR, Governance, etc. to obtain insights and suggestions; and analyzes and incorporates all the results and findings.

• Conducts research on possible internal and external webinar/trainings to be organized during the event.

• Prepares a Concept Note of the Regional Climate Days including the invitation letters and agenda and circulates the invitation letters to the respective RBEC Country Offices and IRH teams.

• Liaises with IRH teams and HQs on potential speakers and resource persons on facilitation of the sessions; and possible external speakers to be invited to the event and/or webinar/training; drafts any related TORs, liaises with procurement, HR and travel teams as needed.

• Leads operational support on the preparation of the event in terms of close follow up with Procurement Unit on selection of the venue, event facilities and all organizational matters.

• Provides administrative support such as setting up and maintaining electronic and hardcopy files; schedule appointments and meetings, prepare documents and monitor deadlines.

administration and programme support is required at the national or international level preferably in the context of a multilateral development organization. • Experience in organizing and managing events and workshops. • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of international and national experts. • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc), experience in handling web-based management systems and data extraction tools highly desirable. • Knowledge of an ERP System (such as Atlas) and UNDP Procurement, Finance and Accounting structure will be considered as advantage. • Working knowledge of English is required. Working knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.

UNV Entitlements in a Nutshell for National UN Volunteer (Specialist): • Current Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is approx. USD 1173. • 100% health, life and dismemberment coverage by CIGNA.
