What we do

The Foundation for the International Committee of the Red Cross (FICRC) was established in 1931 as an independent Swiss Foundation on a simple idea: to help the ICRC continue its lifesaving work and enhance its capacity to develop and promote international humanitarian law in peacetime as in wartime.

Ninety years on, this mission has become more relevant than ever. The Foundation acts as an investor, a laboratory and an enabler for the ICRC so it can best respond to future humanitarian needs, with the required independence and flexibility. We want to accelerate humanitarian innovation to help deliver a more relevant and sustainable impact for victims of armed conflicts and violence.

The primary objective is to substantially grow the endowment of the Foundation by engaging UHNWIs, companies, foundations and other private and public actors. We are looking for a select number of partners to scale up our activities and establish the Foundation as a key player in the humanitarian landscape.
