Overview

Lead implementation of environmental and social safeguards frameworks.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or environmental management.
  • At least 7 years of working experience of which 3 years of experience should be in applying environmental and social safeguards to complex projects and managing risk.
  • A track record of having worked directly with local communities on project management including environmental and social safeguards and risk management.
  • Proven experience in training design, facilitation, coaching, mentoring and capacity building.
  • Fluent in English and Myanmar languages (preferred), and strong communication skills both oral and written.

WWF-Myanmar is now inviting applications for an Environmental & Social Safeguards Specialist based in Yangon, Myanmar.

II. Major Function

The Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist is responsible for leading the development and updating of and supporting the implementation and reporting on the Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF) and ensuring the integration of Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into the work of across WWF-Myanmar’s operations. The role leads monitoring and implementation of WWF’s Grievance Mechanism across project sites in coordination with programme teams and is also responsible for building the capacity of WWF staff and relevant third parties to enhance understanding and implementation of ESSF. This role supports GEDSI integration in coordination with designated Gender Focal Point, ensuring clear boundaries between programme/community and office-level responsibilities. III. Major Responsibilities

• Program Development, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation on Environmental and Social Safeguard Management Framework (ESMF) • Grievance Mechanism Implementation • Implementation of the WWF-Myanmar GEDSI Strategy • Coordination and Reporting • Organizing regular training (including induction for new staff) on ESSF and GEDSI to WWF-Myanmar staff and relevant partners.
