The COVID-19 pandemic was a wake-up call on the need for the environment to be taken into consideration in public health. The One Health approach simultaneously considers human health, animal health, and ecosystems / environmental health in preventing disease, developing preparedness, and responding to outbreaks and pandemics. The One-Health Quadripartite is a collaborative partnership to advance the implementation of One Health approach by countries. The One-Health Quadripartite has developed a Joint Plan of Action (JPA) comprising six (6) action tracks one of them being the integration of the environment in One Health. This assignment intends to shed light on the status of the implementation of One Health in Africa and to specifically study the level of integration of the environment in the national One-Health initiatives.
