IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

The duty station of this assignment is Vásárosnamény. Vásárosnamény is a small town in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, in the Northern Great Plain region of eastern Hungary.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office and the direct supervision of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Senior Project Assistant, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting interviews with arrivals from Ukraine at one of five land border crossing points: Záhony, Lónya, Barabás, Beregsurány or Tiszabecs in the framework of the overall IOM Hungary’s response in Ukraine’s neighboring countries.

• Conduct face-to-face survey interviews with arrivals from Ukraine at one of five land border crossing points: Záhony, Lónya, Barabás, Beregsurány or Tiszabecs in Ukrainian, Russian or English languages. • Collect the information on humanitarian needs through close coordination with counterparts and partners. • Inform the direct supervisor about evolving movements, trends and dynamics. • Report to the direct supervisor on implementation status, including the progress, irregularities and shortfalls. • Respect deadlines and ensure the accuracy of the survey data submitted. • Ensure that all data collection is in line with IOM’s data protection principles. • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results • Successful conduct of interviews with arrivals from Ukraine interviewed at one of the five land border crossing points Záhony, Lónya, Barabás, Beregsurány or Tiszabecs. • Quality and accuracy of data submitted (from 1 to 5 where 1 is the lowest and 5 the highest); • Professionality of communication with IOM DTM team (from 1 to 5 where 1 is the lowest and 5 the highest).

conducting data collection and interviews is an advantage. Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs and/or EU Agencies would be an asset. Fluency in Ukrainian is required. Knowledge of other UN language is desirable Residing in the area nearby one of five land border crossing points: Záhony, Lónya, Barabás, Beregsurány or Tiszabecs is an advantage

Frequent travel is required between the following land border crossing points: : Záhony, Lónya, Barabás, Beregsurány or Tiszabecs, as well as potentially to Country Office in Budapest.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.

UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service.
