Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

UNDP’s Access to Justice and Strengthening of Human Rights Unit supports the Government of South Sudan with capacity building in rule of law, human rights, and other related thematic areas. This involves support to correctional services, the judiciary (mobile courts and the GBV courts), technical matters such as constitution making and transitional justice. In addition, UNDP supports CSOs that collaborate with victims and survivors of violence in South Sudan due to past wars and conflict. Currently the Transitional Justice project is working with the Government of South Sudan to ensure that the laws to set up the Transitional Justice mechanisms as set in the 2018 Peace Agreement are finalized and set into law as well as preparing victims and survivors to be able to engage with the same bodies when they are finally set up. This assignment is an opportunity for a volunteer to display their creative content creation and communication skills. The volunteers’ expertise will go towards training at least 10 CSOs working on transitional Justice in South Sudan to be able to develop social media and communication products that are impactful and raise awareness on TJ issues in all sectors of the South Sudan populace.

The transitional justice project supported by UNDP in South Sudan is implemented by 8 local CSOs working in different regions of the country – Greater Bahr El Ghazal; Greater Equatoria and Greater Upper Nile. The idea is to have one online volunteer assigned per CSO for maximum coverage as well as ensuring that the attention is given to a particular CSO. The TORs will be the same for all online volunteers, the only difference being the CSO to be assisted. The UNDP Transitional Justice Specialist will be overall responsible for the delegation of duties and supervision of deliverables/support requests made by the CSO to the Online Volunteers.

The online volunteers will support the UNDP Transitional Justice Specialist in preparing training materials as well as conducting at least 2 online social media content creation trainings for CSOs working on Transitional Justice in South Sudan. The volunteer will also assist the selected CSOs in developing social media advocacy and information content that will be used to communicate their work; inform victims and survivors about the Transitional Justice Mechanisms as well as ensure maximum engagement on social media on related issues by the strengthened capacities of the CSOs emerging from the Online Volunteers’ support.
