The FAO Office of Youth and Women (OYW) positions youth and women as central actors in FAO’s work and in global agrifood systems transformation. It empowers youth - especially young women - to drive agrifood systems renewal by mobilizing innovative ideas and solutions from young farmers, policymakers, civil society, academia, indigenous communities and the private sector.

OYW supports in the development of youth driven infrastructure and capacity development approaches to ensure meaningful, systematic youth engagement in policy dialogue and programmatic action, engaging youth in initiatives that revitalize food heritage and strengthen opportunities across the agrifood sector.

In the context of the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) programme, FAO's Office of Youth and Women (OYW) is seeking Online Volunteers to support the translation and linguistic review of educational resources from English into French/Spanish. The YUNGA Challenge Badges are educational materials developed by FAO and partner organizations on topics related to food systems, climate action, biodiversity, nutrition, and sustainable development. These resources are used by schools, youth organizations, Scouts and Guides groups, and educators worldwide.

Volunteers will support the final stages of publication by reviewing and translating draft materials in line with FAO language and editorial guidelines, helping make these resources accessible to a wider audience.

The selected Online Volunteer will:

• Translate YUNGA Challenge Badge educational resources from English into French (1 Online Volunteer) and into Spanish (1 Online Volunteer).
• Review and proofread translated materials to ensure linguistic accuracy, clarity, consistency, and suitability for educators and young audiences; ensuring both technical correctness and that the language and structure is user friendly for educators and children;
• Apply FAO language and style guidance to ensure consistency with organizational standards;
• Provide feedback on translated materials to improve readability and user-friendliness;
• Support finalization of the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration badge, helping follow up on the inputs from the Secretariat of the Convention on Biodiversity and other partners, incorporating their feedback and preparing the booklet for publication;

• Assist in reviewing feedback received during piloting and testing of translated materials and support the incorporation of relevant inputs into final versions, as required;

• Candidates 18–35 years old are particularly encouraged to apply.

• Advanced proficiency in English and fluency in Spanish and/or French;
• Experience in translation, editing, copyediting, communications, education, or a related field is desirable;
• Familiarity with educational materials, youth engagement, sustainable development, or UN terminology is an asset.
