ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs). Job holders operate with minimal supervision, and are heavily involved in day–to-day activities, and analytical work and provide advice on less complex issues. The job holder report to Communications Officer,

JOB PURPOSE

To implement the communications plan by supporting and delivering a range of communications activities, providing research and analysis, and prioritising effectively.

key accountabilities

  • Implement under the supervision of the Head of Unit country specific communication strategies and work plans designed to maintain and enhance the visibility and brand recognition of WFP, ensuring alignment with overall communications and WFP strategies.
  • Develop concepts of awareness and brand building campaigns and work in close coordination with the Head of Unit on implementing them within the guidelines of WFP.
  • Contribute to communications through good research, analysis of assigned area of work and timely preparation and distribution of information products to target audience(s).
  • Develop and maintain visibility partnerships with different stakeholders that can collaborate with WFP on joint events/campaigns.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Maintain a contact list of journalists and media outlets and support the flow of news/information about WFP’s work to the media, in order to support regular and appropriate communications.
  • Develop and maintain a list of influencers that can work with WFP to help build its brand and grant it the needed visibility on different platforms.
  • Develop a social media plan for the WFP Country Office as well as a work plan for the content development within, utilizing platforms, networks and partners to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities.
  • Draft success stories, press releases and social media posts following the editorial guidelines of WFP.
  • Generate donor specific visibility content for use across a range of integrated online platforms, in order to support global and country fund-raising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.
  • Maintaining up to date media messages for the WFP Country Office.
  • Monitor and analyse traditional and social media to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies and to raise topics of specific interest to WFP’s work to the senior management of the County Office.
  • Guide and supervise more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries.
  • Overseeing the service portals of the Communications unit, such as the photo archive, to ensure designated team members are regularly updating it and that is accessible by WFP Country Office.
  • Contribute to donor reports ensuring the Communications activities are adequately represented.
  • Drafting speeches and talking points, to be cleared by the Head of Unit, for the senior management of the WFP Country Office.
  • Acting as Officer in Charge in the absence of the Head of Unit.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications, or another relevant field, or First University degree with additional 2 years of related work experience and/or training/courses. Language: Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages

Experience: 2 years of Professional experience in case holding a Master's degree and another 2 Professional years of experience in case holding a bachelor's degree

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Net Salary Per month: As per the WFP salary scale

Social Insurance: 8.33% added to the net pay monthly salary in lieu of pension contribution (wfp has no further obligation with the respect of pension)

Taxability of Salary: Tax - NOT exempted (Remuneration under SC is not exempt from national or local taxation)

Annual Leave: 2.5 Annual leave days per month

Certified Sick Leave: 2 days per month

Medical insurance: The Medical insurance coverage will be granted by WFP (cost is sharing among the contractor and WFP)

Death and Disability: SC holders must be covered for service incurred disability/injury/death, at no cost.

National holidays: 10 days per year, will be those observed by the WFP office in the country. You will be entitled to holiday days fallen within your contract duration.

Working hours: 5 days a week (Sunday to Thursday) 40 hours a week
