The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. The internship in the Natural Resources Division, Santiago will last 2 to 6 (2 min/6 max) months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. Under the supervision or overall guidance of Senior Economic Affairs Assistant. • Research and data collection, processing, and analysis on energy issues for Latin America and the Caribbean, specially related to SDG 7 and the Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Transition proposed by ECLAC. • Research and compilation of energy governance actions of the LAC countries related to the Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Transition proposed by ECLAC • Support in developing energy activities such as regional workshops and technical assistance missions, including identifying participants, sending invitations, developing agendas and following up on the organization. • Support on the development of a Regional Observatory for Accelerating Energy Transition in the region • Provide assistance in preparing documents, presentations, graphs, and web pages updates. • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent). - For this internship, studies in energy, environment, natural sciences or economics are desirable Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish are required for the internship.
