The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. The IRC New Jersey Economic Empowerment Department provides employment and career assistance to approximately 500 refugees, asylees and other immigrants each year. Through a variety of services including Early Employment, Career Development,Matching Grant and Financial Capabilities programs, the IRC supports refugee, asylee and immigrant clients to gain employment and career advancement opportunities in New Jersey.

Under the supervision of the Economic Empowerment Manager, the Early Employment Coordinator supervises the development and implementation of employment programming including direct service provision, data management, and case file documentation for clients seeking social and economic self-sufficiency through employment, job readiness and vocational training, financial literacy, and access to public benefits. The coordinator will ensure IRC achieves program targets relating to enrollment, economic empowerment outcomes, and connection to community benefits and resources.

Major Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and provide monitoring and evaluation oversight for early employment programming focusing on highly demanded industries and roles; - Work as part of a team to provide comprehensive strength-based services to IRC clients through coordination of cases and effective communication between team members and departments. - Supervise staff and interns/volunteers providing employment support services to clients. - Support grant writing, reports, budget management, media and volunteer engagement opportunities specific to employment programs. - Assist with development of advanced work readiness and bridge programming as necessary for client success in advanced training programs. - Provide in-classroom job readiness instruction, one-on-one job search coaching, including enrollment in vocational trainings. - Develop and refine standardized intake, assessment, and program delivery tools and systems across employment teams. - Participate in IRC network-wide initiatives to understand and share best-practices relating to early employment programming. - Support Economic Empowerment team activities and participate in program development and design for programming. - Monitor intake and enrollment trends, quality of service provision and timeliness and accuracy of case file documentation. - Participate in program meetings, staff development activities, and other duties as assigned.

Partnership Building

- Build and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, employers, career service providers, and small business and corporate entities for advanced career opportunities; - Assist clients and employers as necessary with post-placement issues and continuing employment needs. - Coordinate corporate and employer engagement opportunities and events.

Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

- At least two years of related professional experience in workforce development - Experience in developing curriculum and instructing coursework for English Language Learners - Experience in a non-profit setting and prior experience working in employment services a plus - Experience working in a culturally diverse setting with diverse client base - Knowledge of career pathways and industry certification requirements a plus

- Self- starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications - Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. - Exceptional organizational skills with proven attention to detail. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

- Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Ability to travel regularly throughout New Jersey

Language Skills:

- Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability required, preferably in Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, French, Arabic, Dari/Farsi and/or Pashto.

Preferred experience & skills:

- Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional team structure. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels - Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.

Working Environment: Standard office work environment, along with some field work, including local travel to employers, client homes and other community-based partners.
