Overview

Lead emergency preparedness and response initiatives for children and communities.

You have:

  • Advanced University degree in social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, or business administration.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration.
  • Developing field work experience is necessary.
  • Specialized training/experience in emergency response management is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) or a local language is an asset.

Contract

This is a NO-3 contract. This kind of contract is known as National Professional Officers. It is normally only for nationals. It's a staff contract. More about NO-3 contracts.

At UNICEF COLOMBIA we work to generate positive changes in the lives of children and adolescents. Our current work plan runs from 2021 to the end of 2024 and aims to ensure that children and adolescents enjoy their rights through equitable access to social services, improve their learning and live protected from all types of violence.

We work throughout Colombia, with special focus on the departments where children have fewer opportunities: Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia, La Guajira, Atlántico, Arauca, Vichada and Norte de Santander.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance and supervision of the Representative, the position establishes and implements country office emergency preparedness and response. Responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the emergency interventions to ensure the survival and well-being of children and mothers, and the affected communities in an emergency situation.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines. Preferably a combination of management, administration, and relevant technical fields.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration.
  • Developing field work experience.
  • Specialized training/experience in emergency response management highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) or a local language is an asset.
