We are seeking a highly motivated and talent individual to join EMOPS Director's Office as Emergency Specialist (Reporting and Communication) P-4.

This role will operate under the general guidance of EMOPS Deputy Directors. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of crucial tasks, contributing to the effective reporting of EMOPS contributions.

How can you make a difference?

The main responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with EMOPS Sections: Collaborate with EMOPS Sections in preparing and reviewing inputs on humanitarian action reports, briefing notes, papers, and communication materials i.e., ppt presentations, and related resource mobilization documents. Ensure that all content is accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with EMOPS’ goals.
  • Quality Control of Communications: Provide quality control, both in terms of content and format, for draft speeches, briefing notes, and donor reports produced by EMOPS. Ensure that inputs from EMOPS Sections are adequately reflected in all relevant documents and initiatives.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Offer timely updates and integrated analysis on the impact of humanitarian crises in different countries to EMOPS leadership. Contribute inputs to various EMOPS documentation and reports, including updates to the Executive Board, reports by the Secretary General, and the Executive Committee/Deputies Committee, as required.
  • Coordination and Communication: Maintain continuous, effective, and strategic coordination, communication, consultation, and liaison with EMOPS Sections and HQ divisions. This collaboration will ensure a consolidated and integrated multi-sectoral input to the development of humanitarian position papers and strategies.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences, international development or related technical field relevant to UNICEF programmes.
  • A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible work experience at international or national levels in the areas of programme formulation, implementation, planning, monitoring/evaluation and reporting.
  • Must have excellent analytical and report-writing skills, including the ability to analyze data, recognize trends and outliers, and interpret what they mean in terms of programme implementation.
  • A keen eye for detail is necessary, along with the ability to think strategically.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
