What you will do: 1. Role and responsibilities

Background:

South Kordofan is hosting upwards of 200,000 IDPs, and more continue to arrive. NRC is seeking ways to support IDPs as soon after their displacement and arrival in place of refuge as possible. NRC has multiple awards which fund its emergency response work with different types of multi-purpose cash, including support for groups.

Key objectives for this role include:

  1. Line Management for emergency project staff.
  2. Coordinate and manage emergency response project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
  3. In close collaboration with others, contribute to the development of emergency response strategies and approach, including new emergency projects. Develop Macro LFA and guidance for proposals.
  4. Contribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposal, budgets and donor reports, based on technical standards and donor priorities.
  5. Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of the emergency projects.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Program Design and Planning:
  • In consultation with partners, colleagues, area office management, Emergency Response Manager (ERM), and Cash and Markets Programme Development Manager (PDM), maintain a watching brief on the humanitarian situation and in particular displacement;
  • With the support of Area Manager, collaborate with the and PDM on the design and development of programs, ensuring feasibility and relevance in the context.

  • Partnership Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and coordination throughout program implementation.
  • Work in coordination and collaboration with partners to undertake emergency, needs, feasibility and market assessments that will inform partner / NRC programming

  • Program Implementation:

  • Oversee the implementation of ER programming, including interventions in cash and voucher assistance and market-based programming, ensuring adherence to program design, standards, and protocols.
  • Lead field colleagues and partners in the planning and execution of ER, cash and voucher, and market support interventions ensuring that implementing teams are aligning with associated programmatic standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning:
  • Support and collaborate with NRC’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Team in conducting baseline assessments, post distribution monitoring, and relevant analytical activities and ensure the accountability
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans to assess program effectiveness, efficiency, and impact.

  • Team leadership:

  • Line management of staff in line with NRC procedures, ensuring NRC is a great employer to work for

What you will bring:

Generic professional competencies:

  • Bachelors in (agricultural) economics, project management, agriculture, or Social Science related field.
  • 5 years of experience in project implementation in a humanitarian or emergency context;
  • Experience from working in complex, volatile and remote contexts.
  • Proven experience in emergency response and/or cash and markets programming.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex ideas in a simple manner.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Diplomacy and negotiation skills a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:

• Prior experience in Kordofan.

• Sudanese Arabic required.
