You have:
- University degree in Advocacy, Communications, Media Studies, Journalism or in a related field;
- Five years of relevant experience in reporting, outreach and programming in food and agriculture.
- Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian).
Organizational Setting
The FAO Representation in Yemen (FNYAR) is responsible for leading FAO's response to country priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO's priority activities in the country. FAO Yemen has provided support not only to emergency agriculture programmes to ensure food security and improve agriculture production but has also supported early recovery and development programmes. Through its emergency and rehabilitation programmes, FNYAR has supported vulnerable crops, fisheries and livestock dependent households with technical support while also promoting sustainable land management practices, improved production techniques and technologies and marketing opportunities.
Reporting Lines
The Emergency Outreach and Reporting Specialist reports to the Head of Programme, under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative FAO Yemen and works in close collaboration with FAO Yemen Programme Units, the OER Outreach Unit at FAO Regional office, Headquarters and other relevant colleagues.
Technical Focus
The incumbent shall ensure coherence with FAO’s corporate communication policy and operational guidelines for all communication and information outputs.
Tasks and responsibilities
REPORTING:
• Write and edit progress and final narrative reports for Trust Fund emergency and resilience projects of the Yemen programme, together with accompanying cover letters and project highlights, in accordance with FAO Reporting and Editorial Guidelines, and take the necessary actions to dispatch them to appropriate addressees. • Assist in the revision, finalization and timely submission of key resource mobilization documents to ensure alignment to FAO standards the requirements of major donors. • Write and edit various other documents in English relevant to the work of FAO in emergencies and resilience, including project proposals, brochures, leaflets, situation reports, presentations, etc., ensuring as appropriate alignment with FAO style and FAO NOCs. • Undertake travel, if needed, on short notice, in support of FAO office in Yemen, to provide support in outreach and/or reporting processes, methods and skills, and set up an information system (excel) to ensure monitoring of reports. • Support liaison with donors and partners as needed, for programme development efforts. • Support publications at the country-level in coordination with regional and HQ units.
COMMUNICATION:
• Edit ad hoc content for the FAO in emergencies web site as well as social media account, i.e. Twitter handle @FAOYemen. Ensuring alignment with FAO style and social media guidelines. • Support as necessary the production of visibility materials on FAO's program in Yemen. • Draft and support the development of talking points, speeches, press releases and public statements. • Advise management on local media context and landscape, in its relation to project activities. • Develop graphic design and visual communications products for outreach and engagement with resource partners and other stakeholders.
OTHERS:
• Assist in the management of national outreach and reporting consultants. • Perform other related duties, as requested.
Liaison with the OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.

Minimum Requirements
• University degree in Advocacy, Communications, Media Studies, Journalism or in a related field; • Five years of relevant experience in reporting, outreach and programming in food and agriculture. Experience in developing countries, especially in countries that are vulnerable to disaster or other emergency risks would be an asset; • Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian). For PSA.SBS working knowledge of English.

• Extent and relevance of experience in English in editing and writing reports in a humanitarian context; • Extent and relevance of experience in contributing to outreach and visibility efforts, particularly related to humanitarian contexts; • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable. • Depth of knowledge of agricultural threats and crises; • Ability to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships.
