Company Description

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Job Description

Introduction

Are you a passionate Electronics Technical Engineer who would like to participate in the operation, test, manufacturing and development of electronic equipment pertaining to the quench protection systems for the superconducting magnets of the most complex particle accelerator? Take part!

The Electronics Technical Engineer designs CERN's electronics infrastructure and systems. He/she is also involved in producing, installing, commissioning, operating and maintaining CERN’s electronics infrastructure and systems, notably those required for the accelerator complex.

In the Technology (TE) department*, Machine Protection and Electrical Integrity (MPE) Group, you will take responsibility for the design, procurement, implementation and exploitation of custom-made electronics for the LHC quench protection systems of the superconducting magnet circuits. These magnet circuits store an extremely large amount of energy and for this reason its protection system needs to fulfil the highest safety standards.
