Duties and Responsibilities Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of MINURSO Chief Engineer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the Electrician / Solar system specialist will be responsible to perform technical and design works and produce reports for all planned works but not limited to the following; PV Solar Panel system installation - Supervision: supporting structures foundations, using steel frame, concrete blocks, or cast-in-place concrete, including lining and levelling of the foundations to the same final height; - Supervision: assembly of the supporting structures as per manufacturer’s specifications and final connection to the realised foundations; - Supervision: mounting of the solar PV panels on the structures as per manufacturer’s specifications, interconnection of the panels; - Execution and supervision: placement and mounting of the PV inverters in the designated location/technical room; - Execution and supervision: placement and mounting of the Sunny Island battery inverters in the designated location/technical room; - Execution and supervision: installation of the batteries in the designated location/technical room, including cabling, racking system and battery fuse boxes; - Execution and supervision: connection of DC cables from the PV strings to the PV inverters, including necessary ducting/ trunking; - Execution and supervision: connection of AC cables from the PV inverters to the AC junction box, including necessary ducting/ trunking; - Execution and supervision: connection of AC cables from the AC junction box to the Multi-cluster box, including necessary ducting/ trunking; - Execution and supervision: connection of DC cables from the battery fuse boxes to the Sunny Island battery inverters, including necessary ducting /trunking; - Execution and supervision: connection of AC cables from Sunny Island battery inverters to the Multi-cluster box, including necessary ducting/ trunking; - Execution and supervision: connection of data communication cables between the Sunny Island battery inverters, including necessary ducting/trunking; - Execution and supervision: connection of diesel generator (power and consensus cables) and main electrical board to the Multi-cluster box, including ducting/trunking; - Execution and supervision: commissioning of the entire system using the SMA platform, continuous testing of the system under monitoring for not less than 1 day. General Electrical installation: - The electrician will be responsible to plan and coordinate teams of electricians to carry out electrical installations, repairs and maintenance of the distribution and control systems as required. - The electrician will be expected to travel to all mission sites to perform assigned tasks. - Assesses requirements for the electrical installation, repairs and maintenance of engineering equipment, lighting system, security lights, power outlet points, control panels, kitchen equipment, workshop equipment and other electrical devices and equipment. - Diagnoses problems and develops solutions for malfunctioning or defective engineering equipment or systems. - Applies and ensures adherence to safety programmes related to the safe operation of engineering equipment and power tools. - Reads and interprets specifications and technical drawings for installations and upgrade of infrastructure. - Coordinate with the construction team to assemble supporting structures foundations and metal frames as per manufacturer’s specifications. - Perform surveys and prepare material quantities and specifications - Monitor the UN owned tools/equipment and material inventory under custody - Adhere to all UN and international safety standards and applicable codes, - Identify the best methodologies to address development issues related to electrical works and suggests the best fit for related methodologies. - Perform other related duties assigned by the Chief Engineering Officer and the Power Generation Unit supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills Possession of high school diploma is essential with course(s) from technical school in the field of electrical installations or solar panel installations or an intermediate apprenticeship level in electrical installation. Possession of performance certificates shows knowledge of PV design, installation, operations, commissioning and maintenance gives more advantage. Possession of valid driving license for 4 x 4 vehicle is an advantage. - Experience in electrical installations (laying of cables, control panels, lighting, ... etc.) and maintenance of electric equipment and appliances, minimum 6 years. - Experience with installation and commissioning of PV systems of at least 20kWp capacity, minimum 3 years. Do you have technical or vocational certificate in field of the electrical installations?.

Languages Official working language in the mission is English. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic / or Spanish language is an asset.
