**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Education Sector (ED) Duty Station: Johannesburg Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Education Type of contract : Non Staff Level : Level 1 Duration of contract : 1 year Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 06 September 2023 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the overall supervision of the Regional Education for Health and Well-being Advisor and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Officer, the Junior Programme Assistant assists the Education for Health and Well-being Unit in programme implementation, coordination, administration, planning, monitoring and evaluation. The incumbent shall provide support to the EHW Regional team and specifically contribute to the following objectives; 1. Support the visibility of the Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future (O3) Programme: 2. Support digital and advocacy related to the creation of an enabling environment for health education 3. Contribute to the organization of O3 Programme events, including high-level regional events 4. Support any other activity as needed Long Description ---------------- The Junior Programme Assistant would work closely with the CSE Digital specialist and Communication officer from the EHW Regional team and he/she is expected to deliver the following tasks: 1.Support Digital and Communications Specialists on Social Media specifically; - Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns (Young People Today, Let’s Talk EUP; etc) - Contribute to the development of new strategies for increasing engagement - Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability 2.Support Digital and Communications Specialists on Digital Content Creation specifically: - Brainstorm and research ideas for original content and develop the content - Assist with photography during live events and help create and edit short-form videos 3.Support web administrative and design tasks under the guidance of Digital and Communications Specialists, specifically: - Website maintenance and update of CSE Regional Learning Platform (RLP), Young People Today, and Let’s Talk EUP websites - Maintain content within the RLP LMS by creating and uploading approved modules and courses, granting access and role-based user permissions, updating course content, and running reports - Assist with the backend for the UNESCO CSE Community of Practice Long Description ---------------- 4.Support the Digital Specialist on design and development of CSE mobile apps (Future+; OwnU; Buzzer, etc), specifically; - Support regular maintenance of mobile applications 5.Support Digital Specialist on conceptualization, development and expansion of WhatsApp chatbots (Dzidzo paDen | Imfundwe’ndlini; Kuphunzira paDen etc) specifically: - Conceptualization of new and expansion of existing WhatsApp chatbots - Implementation of structural changes and updates to existing WhatsApp chatbots - Regular maintenance of chatbots 6.Support on EHW Unit events specifically: - Support the programme, communications, and IT teams at face-to-face and online events - Other tasks as assigned Long Description ---------------- **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- The Junior Programme Assistant must possess the following attributes: - A recent graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Computer Science; Information Technology, Informatics, or related field (not more than 1 year after graduation) - Understanding of traditional media and new digital communication tools - Mastery of communication tool production software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or Canva. - Very good command of English with excellent writing skills. - Working knowledge of a local language is a plus - Computer proficiency as well as proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- Knowledge and previous paid/volunteer work in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights will be an added advantage. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
